Responding to God with Your Whole Life
Worship is more than singing songs on Sunday morning. It is a lifestyle of honoring God with everything we are and everything we do. Jesus said, “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).
What Is Worship?
At its core, worship is our response to God’s worth. When we glimpse His beauty, goodness, and love, the natural response is awe, gratitude, and praise. Worship is not about a particular style of music or liturgy — it is about the posture of our hearts before God.
Forms of Worship
- Praise and song: Expressing joy through music, whether ancient hymns or modern songs
- Prayer: Lifting our hearts to God in gratitude and petition
- Giving: Offering our resources as an act of worship
- Service: Serving others as an expression of love for God
- Obedience: Living according to God’s commands as an act of devotion
Why Corporate Worship Matters
The early church “devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). Gathering together reminds us that we are part of a larger family, the body of Christ. We encourage one another, learn from one another, and worship together in unity.
“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship.” — Romans 12:1
